Jimmie Crawford - "Steel Crazy"
Jimmie Crawford is one of the most creative and unique Steel Guitar Players around. He is a seasoned veteran who played on the road with stars like Kitty Wells, Johnny Wright, Hank Snow and Jean Shepard, he also worked in the studio and recorded with artists like Ernest Tubb, Skeeter Davis and Norma Jean. He is one of the real stylists of the Steel Guitar, his unique approach and playing results in a personal style of playing that is always recognizeable as his own. Just listen to him play the old standard "John Henry" and you'll immediately know what I mean!
His musical career is linked to his long term fellow musician Russ Hicks, another great Steel Player. Their instrumental albums "Chicken Pickin' Good" and "Chicken Pickin' Plus" are definitely among the most interesting Steel Guitar Albums ever recorded.
After a long battle with illnes, Jimmie Crawford passed away on February 2, 2005.
Jimmie Crawford is a member of the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.
